Peter Mwangi, WMF 2013 Scholar of Special Needs Education

 

WMF Scholar Peter Mwangi (shown on the left), 27 of Kenya will begin his studies at Mount Kenya University to earn his Bachelors of Special Needs Education. As a deaf individual, Peter is a leader and inspiration to many in his country. He currently is the Secretary General of the Deaf Empowerment Society of Kenya and is a government teacher at the Kerugoyo Primary School for the Deaf. Peter’s goal is to help other students with special needs transition into meaningful careers through providing them with a comprehensive education. Peter’s fluency and ability to teach others Kenyan Sign Language and Braille will improve the lives of those living with special needs throughout Kenya and East Africa.
