Day Six: Jeremiah Uyime
Begin your weekend with inspiration from Jeremiah Uyime a WMF Scholar studying Medicine from Nigeria. In May Jeremiah was serving in the Department of Pediatrics when he met a 12 year old girl with severe anemia, mild thrombocytopenia and severe neutropenia. In his own words, “She was very smart and cute. She was placed on reverse-barrier nursing and received several blood transfusions. At a point, I volunteered and donated 500mls of blood to her; that was my first ever blood donation! I was in tears at the expression of gratitude by her father, and it dawned on me that finally my dream of “giving back hope to hopeless persons with medical conditions” was gradually coming true”.
