It is official! The reviewing of 1600 Empowerment Through Education applications is complete! We look forward to welcoming our new 2014 WMF Scholars on August 1st! Over 80 volunteers read your personal statements, essays, applications, and supporting documents for a combined total of 1000 hours. The Empowerment Through Education program is about supporting one another, sharing our knowledge with others, and caring for our communities. We were honored to review such amazing applicants this year. As a small organization we have limited funds. We will award approximately 1% of applicants scholarships, as in past years. For those who are not awarded a scholarship this year, we encourage you to continue serving your communities, seeking out leadership roles, employment, and mentors to continue your growth. Education does not only occur in the classroom. You may be surprise who can teach you a new language, new skills, or a trade. If you have regular access to the internet you can also explore the online courses offered from Coursera. WMF is not a promoter nor do we have a relationship with this company. However, their free online courses do offer a wealth of knowledge. Learn more here: https://www.coursera.org/
