WMF Scholar to Intern at Howard Mission Hospital

Advice Zidya is a 2013 WMF Scholar who studies Medicine at the University of Zimbabwe. In many African countries, an internship is called an ‘attachment’. Advice will be completing his first attachment at the Howard Mission Hospital during the month of July.

The Howard Hospital is a Salvation Army facility that services an area of 250,000 people. Advice anticipates participating in the following: “We will be mainly focusing on community healthcare systems. How they are implemented and what the community thinks can be done to improve the healthcare system. We will also visit informal health care providers like traditional healer, herbalists, and faith-healers. We will  visit farms and mines to see the safety measures they have put in place to avoid injury and exposure to different kinds of chemicals and disease causing agents.” We are excited to follow Advice during his first attachment of his medical career!
